Spotify Streaming Strategy Guide

The most important principle when working with Spotify streams is maintaining consistency and realistic activity patterns. Sudden spikes or unnatural traffic patterns increase the likelihood of filtering, so gradual scaling and steady delivery are essential.

For distribution, we typically use DistroKid to upload and manage releases. As part of the setup, multiple artist profiles are created. Each artist profile should contain approximately five songs. Having multiple tracks helps distribute listening activity more naturally across the profile rather than concentrating all traffic on a single song.

Once the music is uploaded and active, streaming can be applied using Service 9011. The recommended starting structure is 100 streams per day per song.

Example structure for one artist profile:

5 songs per artist profile

100 streams per day per song

Total per artist profile: 500 streams per day

Scaling example:

50 artist profiles

500 streams per day per profile

Total daily streams: 25,000 streams

At this level, estimated Spotify payouts are typically around $60 to $75 per day (2-4$ per thousand streams), while the approximate cost for generating those streams is about $12 per day.

It is important to understand that this example demonstrates a scaled scenario. New campaigns should always begin at a much lower volume to safely test stability and delivery patterns before gradually increasing stream amounts. Starting slowly allows you to monitor performance and reduce the risk of platform filtering or stream removals.

Also note that spotify pays out every 3 months, so manage campaigns for 3-month periods.
